Anna Maccheroni, a disciple of Dr Montessori and a specialist in music, designed a series of principles and materials for teaching music to develop aesthetic sensitivity in children, according to the criteria of Montessori pedagogy.

She said: “At this stage it will be necessary to offer not only experiment, but also systematize the concepts of each language.”

Art is a vital language for children  in the stage from 6 to 12 years old, because it offers them many tools for their own expression and also for the representation of the world that surrounds them.

In the Montessori approach, Art helps the child to discover his cosmic task, to acquire self-confidence and self-worth. At this stage, art is integrated into the rest of the areas through projects as varied as they are attractive, which invite the child to learn more and to express their own interiority.
